it’s now tuesday, yet the message in church last sunday still rings loudly in my ears (and mind).
the sermon was about the power of the cross, that we could experience victory after victory because of Jesus’ blood spilled for us on the cross. the blood from the crown/thorns on Jesus’ head (John 19:2-3) cancels the curse of the land (in Gen 3:16-18), so that we could experience victory / conquest. His crown represents power, fame, glory and riches so that we may be able to boast in the Lord. Jesus was smitten, mocked and strucked at on the face (Luke 22:63-64) in accord w/ prophesy (Isaiah 50:6) so we could be accepted and have new identities as children of God. blood spilled from His hands redeeming our productivity as well so that we may be able to heal, cleanse, do good works and give freely if we work hard, are disciplined, persevering and willing. we’re not even just supposed to break even, we’re supposed to break through so we could bless God and give Him what is due Him.
powerful, powerful message, ano? 🙂
