Not everyone is called to adopt…but I believe we are. When my mom first suggested it a few years back, I failed to seriously consider it.
After reading this book,
we became convinced, and proceeded to attend an adoption seminar soo after.
Then, as if to derail the progress that we made, something happened…we had a chemical pregnancy just as we were preparing for the adoption. The early miscarriage admittedly jolted me. My husband and I agreed to seek God’s confirmation anew.
On New Year’s Day, just as my husband was about to give a Devotional to his mom, as a gift, he happened to open the little book randomly to this page. He became convinced that this was the way to go.
I, on the other hand, wanted other confirmation. Yesterday, through prophetic intercession in the Prophetic Leadership Seminar, we received the confirmation that we needed.

Because God looks at the heart, motive is the key here: Are we adopting because we believe God is leading us to open our home and our hearts to a litttle one who needs to be nurtured in a specific way that only God working through us can, so he or she can achieve his or her full potential as the man or woman God purposed him or her to be? Or are we doing this because we’ve given up on God’s miracle for my womb? The past few months and yesterday’s prayers stir our hearts towards the former, and definitely not the latter.
This is why we will adopt: to model how God has adopted us into His family, in Jesus. And I thank God even for the past 8 years and His revelations along the way, for without them, we may not have this conviction.
May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm! Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]– [So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace (favor and mercy), which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor, Which He lavished upon us in every kind of wisdom and understanding (practical insight and prudence), Making known to us the mystery (secret) of His will (of His plan, of His purpose). [And it is this:] In accordance with His good pleasure (His merciful intention) which He had previously purposed and set forth in Him, [He planned] for the maturity of the times and the climax of the ages to unify all things and head them up and consummate them in Christ, [both] things in heaven and things on the earth. In Him we also were made [God’s] heritage (portion) and we obtained an inheritance; for we had been foreordained (chosen and appointed beforehand) in accordance with His purpose, Who works out everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His [own] will, So that we who first hoped in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him have been destined and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory!
– Ephesians 1:3-12 AMP
How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth. It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.

And so we with these words, we shall proceed. Thank You, Lord
