A Fresh Start

How wonderful that this Devo entry perfectly aligns with the verse I posted before I slept!

It must be God’s message for me on the 1st day of 2017.

I love how the NLT version says that He has already begun doing that new thing…and I believe He has.

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. – Isaiah 43:19 NLT

The Message translation provides more context, as it begins with a reminder of the nature of the God who said those words

This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, The God who summons horses and chariots and armies— they lie down and then can’t get up; they’re snuffed out like so many candles: “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’ —the coyotes and the buzzards— Because I provided water in the desert, rivers through the sun-baked earth, Drinking water for the people I chose, the people I made especially for myself, a people custom-made to praise me. – Isaiah 43:16‭-‬21 MSG

A brand new thing…a way where there seems to be no way…something unprecedented and fresh…because He is God. Period. Selah.

This is forgetting the heartaches and resentments of the past, as well as bad tendencies, which the Lord has already admonished me to leave behind.  These things shall not be brought into this new season. They shall not contaminate the new thing God is causing to spring forth.

Right now, I see a vision of the end in mind, but there is a figurative desert of lack and a wilderness of seeming lostness…but I trust that God will make a roadway in the wilderness, which we are to walk into, and refreshing streams in the desert…because He said so….because He is God.
